Distinguished Public Service Award

The Distinguished Public Service Award is to be presented to members who have distinguished him/herself providing a community or public service, performed on a voluntary and uncompensated basis, and benefiting the community in an exceptional way. The Indiana Academy of Family Physicians proudly names Anna Pendrey Guillen, MD the winner of the 2024 Distinguished Public Service award.

Dr. Pendrey Guillen earned her medical degree from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras and later studied Family Medicine-Global Health at Indiana University in Indianapolis followed by a Geriatrics fellowship at Stanford. She returned to Indianapolis in 2022 and has served as Clinical Assistant Faculty at Indiana University School of Medicine since that time.

Fully engaged in her professional life, Dr. Pendrey Guillen serves numerous academic and professional organizations. She volunteers many hours with the IU Student Outreach Clinic each year and is a member of the Indiana University Women’s Advisory Council. She has also been recognized as an elected community leader with the Alzheimer’s Association. A colleague of Anna said, “Anna consistently demonstrates professionalism, clinical excellence, dependability, commitment, and enthusiasm in all that she does. Her interest in serving the underserved is inspiring and commendable.”

The IAFP is proud to name Dr. Anna Pendry Guillen the 2024 recipient of the Distinguished Public Service Award and thanks her for her dedication to public service and family medicine in Indiana.
